Gibson Island Vacation

We took the kids to visit my Dad and Melissa on Gibson Island for our vacation this summer. We are lucky they live in such a beautiful place...right on the bay, private, and lots of places to walk. We planned to do very little except visit David and Amy's new place in the DC area. Other than that we just relaxed (well as much as you can with two active 18 month old toddlers!), swam, and ate good food and drank lots of margaritas! Elaina loved the dog, Gabe. She would stick her foot near his mouth so he would lick it. She has been talking like crazy and each day is a new word. She learned to say Papa and Mimi, which was fun to see! Skylar was on the move of course and happiest when he was in the water swimming. He couldn't be bothered to sit in his highchair and eat. We decided our visit was one day too long for the kids. While they did pretty well adapting to a new place to sleep and play, they were happy to be home in their own beds and playing with their toys. Good thing our visit we booked for Thanksgiving back to Gibson Island is one day less!! Here are a few pictures from our trip. I had some really good ones from my Dad's camera but for some reason I can't upload them here.

The neighborhood David and Amy live in is so much fun. There are a ton of shops and restaurants and so much to do within walking distance. We ate at a Mexican restaurant and sat outside. Despite the good food and company, Skylar was more interested in the huge cranes and trucks doing construction across the street.

When we visit my dad, Jon and I love to go to Jimmy Cantler's which is a fun seafood place near Annapolis and on the water. David and Amy came in to go with us and unfortunately my Dad hurt his back and couldn't come and Melissa was on an all day painting trip. So it was just us four adults (Amy and I were there but we were taking the pictures!)and the twins. We usually get a bucket of blue crabs but with the kids it would have been too messy and hard to eat while feeding them. So we just got a half dozen for an appetizer. It was a perfect place to bring the kids because it is loud and messy! Plus you can go down to the dock and check out the crabs waiting to become dinner and the boats who come dock and have dinner.
